Vote for Art
VoteForArt.com, a new startup backed by the large apparel company David Peyser Sportswear(owner of brands such as Weatherproof and MV Sport). Vote For Art will be similar to Threadless but with a collegiate focus. For our first major contest we have partnered with Purdue University to host a graphic design contest. The winners’ artwork will be printed on t-shirts and sold at the University bookstore. MV Sport already has deep vendor relationships with many university bookstores, allowing Vote For Art the platform to take a large bite out of the cool, crowd-sourced t-shirt market.

Tell us about your startup business:
Vote For Art will be similar to Threadless but with a collegiate focus. We have partnered with six major universities for our main launch in November, for which we will be hosting graphic design contests. The winners' artwork will be printed on t-shirts and sold at the University bookstore (Winning designers will earn a cash reward and a percentage of t-shirt sales).
We are currently hosting the "Design Our Logo" contest which will be the very first of its kind. Members of the Vote For Art community will be able to design and vote for the actual logo to be displayed on our site and on all of the tees sold online and in book stores around the country. Not only will Vote For Art members create all the products sold in our stores, but they'll also create the brand of the entire community!

What are some of the future goals for your startup?
I want artists to have the ability to reach a large audience and get national exposure from our platform. I want the Vote For Art winning tees to be sold at every major college campus. Making this happen is my main objective right now.
Advice for other startups? Favourite Quotes?
I would tell other entrepreneurs that before you start a company, make sure that you love the idea. You need to love the idea and believe that you can make it successful. Because if you don't, the first set back will make you discouraged and make you question your business. Once you have the idea and you've finished all your market research and you are convinced you can make it successful-- be prepared to work. Nothing is going to be given to you. You have to make your own success.
