2010 might just be the year of the home-based business.
Until recently, any entrepreneur running a businesses from their home, no matter how big or successful that business happened to be, ran the risk of being dismissed as less than legitimate, or perhaps inferior to their brick and mortar counterparts.
Fortunately for the new tide of home-based entrepreneurs, or homepreneurs, the idea that you can build a business from anywhere is gaining steam, not only among individual entrepreneurs, but from the business world in general.
We are now living in the age of the global micro-brand, where it is possible for an idea to move from conception to production to distribution, all from the same room, to a worldwide audience.
All of this can even happen within minutes.
CityMax recently announced the winners of their competition for the CityMax Homepreneur of the year, naming Marco Barberini for first prize.
Barberini quit his job at the gas station, exchanging it for the limitless potential of the Internet and building a home based business. Marco quit in 2007, became a homepreneur, and has since built a rather remarkable, easy to run home based business selling pet tag shipped in one day.
Marco offers a good product with excellent service. His low overhead, web based business brings in an average of $8,000 per month and requires just 10 hours of work time each week.
It’s easy to see why home based businesses are a growing trend among entrepreneurs. Many people go into business for themselves because they believe in the promise of dictating their own schedule or spending more time with their families.
For the homepreneur, this is a promise that’s met a lot sooner.
