    Would this idea work?

It's okay to tell me the truth, I want to hear what you guys think.
Sort of like a website like craigslist/getafreelancer except for all different types of categories, not just web related.

Say you were looking for a handyman because you have a certain problem in your house/store. You would go to the website and choose your location, and it would go to the website just for that area. Then you would pick a category, in this case it would be Handyman, and it would have a list of open projects people are looking for. Then you would post a new job and you would have pictures of what exactly needs fixed and a write-up of what needs to be done. Then, people in that area who are handyman's will give them a quote (bid) and allow them to explain what they can do and a link to their website or whatever.

Each bid will have reviews, just like a GAF website so people can see if other clients found them helpful.

Another example would be if someone is looking for Guitar lessons, they would post in "Music Lessons" and describe who they are and what they are trying to achieve, and these musicians can post a bid for an hourly rate, or however it is set up and we can connect these people.

I know that people can just use craigslist or google and just call each company they see for a quote, but this can be like an organized website which has all the quotes right in front of you so you can compare them, and save them for future use. Also it gets people to review the companies so they can build up a reputation.

The companies or individuals who are looking for work could have an option to subscribe to the whole category and get e-mail notifications when a new job is posted.

No? Or has some sort of potential?
What kind of ideas could you guys suggest?

    Thanks!

You don't see why it would, or wouldn't work?

Mmm, it would be free so I wouldn't be taking money from the people looking for work or the companies giving a quote. Just a thought I had

I don't know, maybe when the deal is done and they are going to pay the company through our website, we will charge a little fee like 5%?

I just don't want to charge money for them to post / bid and then barely get anyone using the website when they can just call up people for free.

    @Jamie: It's ok

have you every heard of tradia. cPanelŽ . tradia . net/. Its a system where you trade your product and service for the website currency and if you need a lawyer you give a lawyer some of your points and the lawyer needs some remodeling he gets a handyman for a different amount of points and the handy man needs a website he calls you. What it essentially does is lets everyone keep their pretax dollars. Its ingenius.
    Or
Just build it up and sell advertising.

I also have ProposalsDirect.com and ProposalsDelivered.com if you are interested....

    Best of luck!
