Low level - leave the PR firms alone. They'll charge you a lot and can't guarantee you results.

What are you trying to accomplish at THIS STAGE in your marketing?

People approach marketing like it's something you just do and it takes on a life of its own.

Not so - marketing, like anything else (operations and finances) needs a plan. The best marketing schemes occur in a step by step approach. What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to create awareness? Are you trying to convert awareness to potential customers? Are you trying to capture brand loyalty? Or work on follow-on sales (additional salees with existing customers)?

The best marketing is a solid (well designed) product/service - something that people see the value in. MySpace did NOT market for its first 2 years and still managed to become the third most visited website on the internet. ALWAYS keep that in mind...

That is good advice MsNadi - you can't beat lots of happy customers as a marketing tool.

That goes to show the importance of "word of mouth" advertising... Figure who your audience is (age, location, gender, ect.) and then find a way to advertise to them and try to find people that fit within your audience or who may work directly with others that fit your audience and get them to become "sneezers" talking to everyone they know about your product or site.

hope this helps

Ya that would be pretty amazing if it was true hehe...If I remember correctly they started with a pretty solid affiliate program and a healthy dose of spam...

At any rate, success like that doesn't just happen. You can be darn sure that those kinds of results are fueled by smart and hard work.

Ask your friends or family what they think of your idea. If it is a product, put one together and see if it will sell.
