trends and statistics

Hi I am writing a business plan to start my own clothing label. I have to state the industry overview as well as trends and statistics. Where can I find this info for free or little cost because I found a report but it was 715 dollars for 26 sheets of paper. Business start up costs are killing me so I am not trying to pay thet much for it. Any suggestion?

Hi Kisses,

$715 dollars for 26 sheets of paper. Hmmm....I doubt anyone from the bank would even read that and the rest of your proposal. My suggestion is this-narrow down what type of clothing genre you are researching. For example, AandF, PacSun, or American Eagle. Sort out your information you can get about one specific retail company and make your analysis from what you have gathered.

That's how you really learn about your business. By actually researching and not looking for pre-written reports. I guarantee that you will find out the intricacies of the clothing and retail business.

Good luck,

LT

You should be able to find a great deal of information about trends and statistics online. There are a lot of free resources out there. In fact, I remember reading an article in the NYTimes about trends in the clothing industry not too long ago. Keep searching and I am sure you will some good info.

Much of the information you need is available online. However, as someone already mentioned make sure that you are dealing with a credible source; i.e. industry associations, trade journals, D&B, etc.

Your local university has low cost/free access to a plethora of online databases. Additionally, you can access similar research papers if for nothing more than the works cited.
