Starting a Retail Ebay business?

I am currently a college student and i am interested in setting up an ebay business selling women's fashion clothing.

I am looking for some tips and suggestions because although i have sold fashion items on ebay i am new to setting up a business instead of just auctions.

I was wondering how to find sources, I was thinking of dropshipping, is that possible with clothing? If so where do i find sources and dropshippers? I am looking for fashionable clothing.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

I recommend starting very slowly, and seeing how you get on. Try to look for niche markets on Ebay, and using a shop in conjuction with a website works well.

I'd suggest to skip dropshipping. Profit is nearly impossible with that because most dropshipping companies sell their items at retail price already. Go buy some products wholesale. Its much easier to make money that way.

That's wrong. You are not looking in the right places. If you buy from a wholesaler already, just have them drop ship. Most wholesalers doing business with you will drop ship also.

Do your research when it comes to finding reliable suppliers for fashion clothing. There are alot of information out there. There is a site where they liquidate different branded clothing at a very good price people just bid on them. This are retail stores that ran out of business and decided to liquidate their stuff you can get a very good deal to sell on ebay. There is one Liquidation.com - Business Surplus Liquidation Excess Inventory Closeouts Computer Liquidations Surplus Liquidation Auction Wholesale Products and if i find others i would let you know.

Thanks

Kettlin what are area are you from? I have some great resources in the NE. My company works with a few auctions that sell government surplus. These are real multi-million dollar brick n mortar auctions. Send me a PM and let me know where you are from.

You might want to try being an ebay affiliate rather than doing all the grunt work yourself. I currently run two websites that require 0 work from me aside promoting.
One is based on the gaming niche: consoledeal.com
The other is based on the new iPhone: iphoneproguide.com
It's very easy to set up a website like this. There are popular commercial scripts that will do all the hard work for you such as BANS (build a niche store) or phpbay pro which is a plugin for the popular wordpress blogging software. There's also free tools out there that allow you to take an RSS feed and display it on your site (which I have opted to use, it's not as pretty and functional but it does the same thing). You will of course need to be a member of Commission Junction (cj.com). Ebay will automatically unnaprove you if you are from countries like Pakistan or India but shooting them an email can usually get you approved.

In any case these affiliate websites provide a nice supplementary income. I know of quite a few people with a network of websites like these that rake in thousands a month! Personally I can average $1000 a month with these two sites however my December earnings look like this:
consoledeal.com/cjproof.jpg

The content is auto updating. People prefer to go to websites that have what they're looking for as the main topic of interest rather than cluttering through ebay themselves. Ebay pays $25 for everyone that signs up for ebay and places a bid on an item. They also pay a commission on items sold. A visitor with your cookie can buy anything and you will get a commission it doesn't have to be the item they clicked on your website. Cookies stay for 7 days which is a plus because sometimes you'll get people who buy off of ebay daily and they really push your earning up!

If you need any more advice please feel free to PM me.
