RE: Oppresively Huge Development Required, where do I start?

So, I'm in the early stages of mapping out my business and it's becoming more and more readily apparent that this project will require multiple stages to accommodate the huge amount of development required.

My website idea is complex and will involve large amounts of Laslo/Flex code which will be heavy on the servers. I am looking for some world-class design teams to make sure it is built as efficiently as possible. I currently work at a startup that's in it's 6th year. We have thousands of clients, some of which are running our applications across their entire enterprise (and they have up to 40,000 employees.) What I've noticed is that as we have grown our application is now extremely slow when loading complex pages. I have been in many meetings where this is discussed and it's been explained that the way the code was written originally it is not very efficient, nor are the servers and the middleware serving up the information.

Does anyone know any enterprise architects who could help plan out such a project? I want to make sure I have a reasonable idea of the costs. I'd rather spend a lot in the beginning and not have to completely restructure the business 2 years in because we've achieved the actual unique visitor goal we're setting in the first place.

Here's a couple of the design firms I'm considering:
