Online Retail Business

There sure isn't a lot of quality information for starting an online retail business on the internet.

I tried looking for some info last night and couldn't find much in the way of quality.

It suprises me though, because there are tons of online retail businesses.

Feel free to discuss this.

Yes I totally agree with you. It will be good to get some good info on how to start an online retail business.

I've been searching around as well but can't really find much info on this though...all i can find is about starting a business in general, not an online retail business

Exactly.

Retail businesses are different from all other businesses, and online retail businesses are even more different from all other businesses. You definitely can't apply the same rules to starting an online retail business as you do to a regular business (like making a product).

erh.....

bro, you wanna sell something to somebody

one way you wanna do it is by setting up a site and promoting this site

so what?

that's just a footnote in your marketing plan

there's no such thing as an online retail businesses

there's retail businesses, who use the net as a distribution channel

is there anything to get excited about? no! sales to retail prospects, found on the net, account for 2-5% of all retail sales.

anyway, pedantics aside, you're asking "how to set up a retail business".

that's a very general question

you already know all this stuff (i.e. how to register a business name etc..), so what what are you fishing for?

Check out this link:
http://www.worldwidebrands.com/wwb/kh_freeebookHOME.asp

Their ebooks are good, and they are not trying to sell you on their products constantly, but they do occasionally push them. I found the information they give is good and reliable, but take their occasional product promotions for what they are. Read past them and you might learn something.

I would first read up on starting a regular retail business since alot of the concepts are the same. You still need an idea, a product, a business plan, a system for ordering, money to purchase whatever you need to purchase etc.

AFter you have all that in place then - it's just a matter of how you want to setup your presence online. There's no one place that you can go for all this information - even if there was I'd be wary - i.e. e-books for $99 on "how to make internet riches". Unless that's what you're looking for.....

PM me if you want some help (and you already have a product idea with good margins in mind). I started an online retail business in New Zealand last June.

Yes, actually, there are tons of online retail businesses that are only online. (ever heard of Amazon.com?)

Im 99.9% sure he is asking how to set up an online reatil business.
In which case - 'online' wont be a footnote in his marketing plan - but the plan should be completely based around the online aspect.

My retail business in 100% online. 95% of my marketing is online (the other 5% is posters displaying my store URL in brick and mortar retail shops).
