Let me introduce myself and ask a quick question..

I am new to YE so let me introduce myself. My names Bryan, I am 19, and am attending community college for Business. I have always been entrepreneurly and financially minded (especially after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad) but have never started anything up. My situation basically is that I am BROKE. I currently (and temporarily) have no job, I just work hard at school to keep the GPA up (3.83) and to learn business. I'm sick of working for people so I want to start planning my first ever start up. Because I have limited start up capital many businesses seem to be ruled out. Here are some of the businesses that I am considering .

1. Some sort of ebay store using dropshipping. I have heard from some people that it is worth it but others said that I am five years too late. Also I remember reading that ebay has been taking higher percentages lately. Is this business profitable anymore?? Is there any dropshippers that actually allow a profit?

2. Some sort of "Skateboarding/ Music/ Clothing" company. There is a huge market for skateboarding in my opinion and I have been skating and involved with the lifestyle for 10+ years. I would obviously have to start very small (spraypainting stenciled tshirts and selling friends' cds) but this is what really interests me. I could possibly also invest in recording hardware/ software for my friends who are into music and I feel are talented) This idea seems like the most fun but also the hardest to build up to actually be something. I would love a skateshop / brand eventually and even a skatepark but that would be years away.

3. Attic/ Basement Cleaning Company. Start locally and spread out. It seems like there would be alot of hot physical work involved untill I could afford a few more workers but it also seems like it would be somewhat rewarding. I could buy a beater truck somehow and just fill it up with their junk with a few friends. Possibly Scrap/ ebay some of the junk to make extra cash. This idea was actually stolen from some other thread that I read earlier today on YE.

4. All Female Car wash. Yes it would be seasonal but girls in bikinis would be sure to attract customers. The problem would be finding space and how profitable it would be. (wouldn't the girls make most of the money?)

Bryan... if you are into the skateboarding business and that is what you really want to do... then do it! It may be hard starting with minimal capital, but there are ways if you are motivated enough. Try looking for a private investor.. perhaps there is someone who like the idea and has the money, but doesnt want to do the work? or even know where to start?

Besides, it isnt really too expensive to start making tshirts... esp if you have a computer and a good printer... design some images.. go to walmart and buy their t-shirt printing kits... and go from there.. once you know if your idea will work, you can look into some better supplies... Or, you can even design a t-shirt, get some customers who are interested and then have them professionally printed... that probably wouldnt cost more than $10/$15 a shirt... however you might have to meet a certain order qty.

Just remember... you may or not become a success overnight, but you WILL have to work for it.

Hi, welcome here.

I agree with thehuskybear that idea no 2 is the best choice for you since you have involved in it for more than 10 years. You have experience and passion on this. this is the key to make you success.

The remaining 3 ideas are quite expensive and involved some money to get started.

Skateboarding is a great industry. It is finicky though. Skaters are teenagers and teenagers are very trend conscious. You'll need to really keep on top of the changes in the industry and adapt to them.
