I used to be in involved with that as well, however I had no time nor money to pursue it at the time. I would recommend however, using Spreadshirt to get started and open a free shop, test some designs and ideas and see how people like it.

One thing I learned is that you have to target your audience, dont just create one style of clothing but 2 or 3, because that way you can interest more people with different likes and dislikes in your product.
