Post I need a special type of business plan example/sample!

Hello everyone,

I've been looking for a sample business plan online that will fit my needs. Thus far I have only been able to find plans more specific to selling an item or selling a service. I'm looking for an outline or example of a business plan that deals with starting an investment fund or a venture capital fund.

I've attempted to write one according to a general selling something style outline, but get stuck in trying to alter the sections in a desirable way for my purposes.

If anyone has any links to example plans of this nature or can send one along to me, that would be great!

Thank You!

Nikita

That is the plan, what I'm looking for is a general outline of a plan that is catered to this type of business so I am less likely to miss key components as opposed to something more generic that is readily found online.

Thanks!

I don't see why you couldn't just use the Score template.
Business plans don't really tailor to your needs. They are for businesses. An investment fund isn't a business; it doesn't really have any operational aspects to it, no marketing strategy, or really financial projections based on realistic data. You're probably going to have to write one from scratch, which doesn't seem that hard.

The one beneficial thing for me that the SBA had for me was great coaching on businesss plans for free. I had an offer for them to write a business plan for free for my ventures. That was Newark, NJ and every SBA is different and they also had the SCORE organization in house to help too. Your local SBA is worth a stop by to see if they can pitch in.

Forget about a loan or grants though I would say. Waste of time for me...but that is my personal story...the guy that went in after me might have walked out with pockets overflowing.

This is actually my first post to this forum so hi everybody. It may be my first post but I have spent many years in business and marketing.

Nikita - assuming you are going to be looking for investors and that you will be making money from fees, commisions or a rake then you do have a Product. Every business that intends to make money must excahnge something they have of value (percived or otherwise) in return for payment. This is either a tangible product or an intangible service. If you are going to be starting a fund with the promise of a level of return this is your product and you should treat it as such. Other than some of the special items related to securities you will have a cost basis and expenses and you will then make a margin or fees based on your unit of sale. This should allow you to do various projections based on different success models.

If you are going to look for investors then you will certainly need a line item for sales and marketing.

Are there specific items or categories which you are unsure where to place?

A great website to reference is the US Small Business Administration at www.sba.gov. They have a number of templates on business and marketing plans for a number of industry sectors. I used one of the templates to create my business plan. The templates are free.
