I’m looking for some sort of publication or research that would help guide an entrepreneur in selecting a location for a fine wine store. Is anyone aware of any such resources?

I am no expert but I have worked part-time in a wine store for almost two years. I live in a fairly affluent area in an English countryside town and our store competes with two other wine stores and the supermarkets in the town cnetre. We have a very small selection of fine wines as we struggle to sell many at all. I would say we sell 2-3 bottles of 'fine wine' per week.

I would suggest that if you plan to open a store purely focused on the fine wine side of things then you need to be in a very affulent urban area. I worked in a city centre store for a while and we sold much more champagne and fine wine than we do in my smaller (but richer) hometown store.
