Hello Everyone,

I am in the beginning stages of creating a website and am currently working on mapping the ins and outs of the site in my business plan. With little knowledge of the industry I am targeting (the business relates to conducting high school surveys) I am unsure how I will go about the various aspects of the business plan. For example, conducting market research, determining start-up expenses, and predicting the traffic for my site in the future are all aspects of the business plan I am looking for assistance with. I have used alexa.com for some brief traffic data on some competing sites, but aside from that, a lack of knowledge and resources have kept me progressing. I was hoping someone had some expertise in this field, or could possibly point me in the right direction to get some of these questions answered.

My recommendation would be to continue looking through statistics about web sites. As far as financials go, what do you plan on spending money on? Since it is an online business, you have to look at the price of hosting, as well as any advertising costs you are going to incur. Is the business going to require it's own server with dedicated hosting, or would a basic cheap hosting plan suffice? Will you be advertising on your own, or paying a professional to do it for you?

Pretty much, do you best! If you were an investor, and had to give away your hard-earned money, would you be convinced with your business plan? Take a look at yourself in the mirror... Is that a face that people with money and experience will trust?
