    Antique Trader - Need Advice

For sometime, I've really been drawn to antiques. My parents collect them, and I just love them for some reason. So I figure that I can turn this in to my career. I think that I have a good plan, and I was wondering if anyone could give some advice on how sound it is.

Since I have very little starting funds (Around 5,000 dollars) I'm going to start small. I'm going to continue working my part time job to make ends meet, while I pursue my business goals and start my own business trading antiques.

I can build start building up my reputation and my purse by looking through pawn shops, charity shops, thrift stores and flee markets for those little overlooked treasures. From my experience, I know that a lot of these treasures are sometimes seen as junk and sold for very little. I can then buy them cheap and sell them at local auctions and to dealers that deal in those items. I would be learning the trade while not putting my rather small amount of capital at risk.

This will also give me time to build contacts and learn my way around the dealers and the people that I really need to know to stay in business. As my purse gets bigger, I can start trading larger, more expensive items and then hopefully start making enough to quit my part time job and make my antique trading business my full time career.

Does this sound like a good idea?
