Quality is worth a million dollars. Theres no substitute for good quality work, not even a discount. Just something to think about.

Quality
We assure you that our work will be of the utmost, i.e. best quality, or your money back, no questions asked. This is also stated on our website under the f.a.q. section. Our quality is worth a million dollars but in business you must be competitive that is why we have these discounts. Thank you for your time and inflection.

All I am trying to say with all respects is that you don't have to offer a "discount" to get clients. Yes, it's nice that you are thinking about other's needs, but if you market yourself correctly, and your skills are on a professional level, you can charge a heavy amount for your work. It all depends on who you are marketing. If you target broke people with the prices you have, I don't know how you would make a living. Quality is worth a million dollars, and companies will pay a lot for something that is good and something that actually "works for them." Competition isn't always about money, it's about style and creativity; thinking outside the box.

I had a boss who's primary method of selling was: Price things so low the customer doesn't even think twice about something costing to much. (Which didn't always work because some customers weren't looking for cheap)
My philosiphy is: Find out what the customer really wants, tell them about the product that will completely fill their needs, and once they are sold on the product, then bring price into the equation. I found my method has two benifits. First, the customer now knows they are going to have to spend x number of dollars to really do what they want to do, and secondly, the customer is now so hyped up about finding a solution to the problem they don't really care about the cost.
Bottom line is, most people will pay what it takes to get the job done right .
I never give customers discounts (unless we are related) simply because I do this to make money and if they don't want to pay a fair price, then they don't fully value the service and probably won't be a "happy" customer anyways.
Just my rambling 2 cents and sorry to further derail your topic.
D.

How abou this
Give me one company that is marked for quality that has never had a sale or a special promotion,.................................... there simply is none. Even Mercedes Benz has its year end sales event.

You offer a service, mercedes offers a product, its completely different. I'm talking about the service business in particular, that generally most well rounded businesses don't have to discount their prices to find leads and clients; rather its in the effective marketing that will allow them to charge anything they want within reason.

Well, his business is just starting out. Most webdesign or graphics companies start by charging very cheap to build up a few clients, get the wrinkes out of their system/team, and build up a portfolio. I reckon he's doing the same.
