What Social Network?

I have a promotional products website that I would like to promote using social media but I am not sure which site is best. The promotional products business is mainly B to B.

We are currently a member of FaceBook, Twitter, and LinkedIn where should we focus our efforts?

Thanks,
Kim

I would recommend Twitter. I've had more consistent success with Twitter than with the other networks. I used to do well on Myspace with Nightlife and Entertainment promotions up until about a year ago when the big switch to Facebook occurred. Now that Twitter is catching up, I'm focusing my efforts there - this way it'll be another two years or so until I have to switch over to the next network, lol.

It's not difficult to keep the other two networks caught up. You can use TweetDeck and update your Twitter and Facebook accounts at the same time. There are plenty of other solutions out there that work with Myspace, as well.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. How would you suggest I go about getting noticed on twitter?

Thanks again,
Kim

I know on facebook, you can create a group, business profile, or do PPC ads, but how would you go about using Twitter for promotions?

Try to use combination of all the social networking websites. Some will work, some won't but you will find out the best sources of referral and traffic.

Like any other outreach/promotion, it will take time to see results. Like others have mentioned, you can streamline your process by using tools such as tweetdeck, and ping.fm.

In general, I suggest finding a network or two where your audience hangs out online, and get down to work. Join the conversation, offer something of value for free, and dont come across too Spammy.

You might want to read our guide, ABC's of Social Networks

or the Twitter Guide in my signature.

Definitely use twitter. Just search for what you're looking for and communicate with people!

There a couple ways to get noticed on twitter. Some of them are spam-like. I actually use hummingbird to mass follow people that are interested in what I have to offer. If I am talking about something they enjoy, then I receive followers that are interested.

It is not a free program, but you do see results....
