I would say make your site appear everywhere. I mean post in forum like this with a signature at the bottom, add your site to social book marking sites, directories, and finally other search engines. Google looks a lot at back links and the more the better just make sure you are getting links from high page ranked sites and don’t abuse them because that’s the best way to get banned

First write an article with correct grammer and a genuine one not copied from others..

Then you will see that your site will itself come up in the ranking you will have to put less effort if your article is good

    Smile Pointers for Google

    Hi,

There are several things you can do to have high rankings in Google and similar search engines. Here are some techniques I've used over the years that are very successful:
    1. Write good content, and content FOR people. That is, never write for search engines. I've seen that search engines are very smart and they act many times as humans.

    2. Keep updating your site and do it in a timely fashion (every day, week or whatever fits you). Humans like to read and see new stuff. This adds value to your website, and trusts me, search engines pick up on this.

    3. Use text as much as possible. By this I mean you should try to avoid building you site entirely of images and/or flash. Google can read text, but it can't read images. And whenever you use images, use the title and alt attributes with a clear description of your image.

    4. Links, links and more links. Get linked as much as you can by others and by yourself. Go to blogs, newspapers and communities adding value comments, including the URL of your site. Maybe you can contact a Blogger that deals with the same subject as your site and ask him to see your website and include a reciprocal link. And in your site, link all your pages. If you provide high quality content, eventually other websites will star linking back to your site.

    5. Get notices by Yahoo and Dmoz. Google picks up data from this 2 sources, so it's not a bad idea to have your links an proper information in both sites. You can appear in Yahoo free of charge, but it would take forever – there's also a paid inclusion service. In Dmoz, los for a proper category and submit your site and be patient, because this can take week, even months.

These are just some pointers that I've tested during the last 12 years. They work, some betters than others. Just be patient because it will take time to climb that Google Ranking

Very good stuff! i exceptionally love the idea of "finding other blogs or sites" that have the same content as you.

I have had trouble in the past finding "short story" blogs, but i realize its probably a good idea, to team up with them and hopefully theyre websiters will come and see my website..
