    Social Responsibility??

Hypothetical question... If you had the opportunity to start a business that you knew was going to make you filthy rich but at the same time, you knew that it would cause the collapse of thousands of small businesses and cost countless people their jobs, would you open that business?

That's a good question. Business is business. A veteran around here actually has some type of quote in his sig that says "Business is war, take no survivors."

Business isn't meant to be a charity.

For me personally, I think it would really depend on the situation. Perhaps adsorbing these smaller business would be an option, and that way, not as many jobs would be lost.

The company, if it is found to be the primary reason for these job losses will become despised by many. However, the real question is your own sense of what is right and wrong. Are you content with being the cause of thousands of job losses. I am not trying to say that it is bad, as the answer is different for everyone. Personally, I would create the business

Walmart is an example of a business that destroys jobs and small business... would you prevent the start of Walmart if you could go back in time?
