New Blog about Social Media

I am starting a new wordpress blog based on informing people about social media and how it affects them as well as articles like what is twitter, blogging, etc.

I am searching for someone who would like to partner up to provide content but more importantly aid in graphic design because I lack in this area immensely. The domain name is www.socialcidal.net. Nothing on there yet but there will be soon!

A few suggestions. Logo should include and emphasize on the domain extension .net When people look at your logo they assume it's a .com

In your signature you put a link stating that your an active twitter user. That's a great wayto promote yourself and your brand except that you have the sentence structure wrong. Try: I'm an active twitterrer or get to know me daily through twitter.

Eh could go either. It comes down to personal preference.

I congratulate you for taking the step to start a blog. Your target is a broad and saturated market. Will be tough to have an impact. I can name 30 blogs that talk about this stuff and articles are quickly becoming redundant.

Try to be a little more niche - i.e

Social Media and Sports
Social Media Strategies for Real Estate Agents
Social Media for Job Hunters
Social Media and Wine Industry

or

or marry your expertise with social media as your niche and start collecting that crowd on your Twitter account. Grow your twitter group by petting egos (i.e. Retweeting, giving props, and lots of credit to like minded people.)

You don't need a partner for design - but I would suggest gathering a team of 3-4 writers to contribute. Then, find a cool WP Theme that fits your taste on themeforest.net

Put an ad on craigslist for a wordpress integration project. Put a budget of 200-300$ - You should get 5-10 applicants depending on where you are.

Then find 4-5 blog designs and features that you want to see on your blog. Give as much guidance to the web person as you can - they won't be designing - just integrating for you. Once its done, you can update the blog yourself.

You can also find great writers to contribute to your blog on elance.com - they usually charge anywhere from 4$ to 25$ per 500 word article. Be cautious, more often than not - you get what you pay for.

The key to successful blogging is to just do it and keep at it.

JK

Thanks for all of the feedback.

I have just modified my blog by adding the intense debate comment plugin for wordpress i think this will allow twitter/facebook users to easily communicate with me on my posts.

as far as a niche goes I am certain that there are a thousand or so blogs out there doing the same thing that i am except a lot better. i am searching for my own niche while constantly putting content out there.

jk,

if you could please list a couple blogs that are similar. I'd love to start commenting with them.

As far as additional writers go currently I am advertising on twitter and have two potential writers that are willing to do it for free.

Thanks for the input and I'm looking for suggestions as they come. Also criticism is very much appreciated as well.
