You are definitely not alone! I feel the same way. There's so much more to life than sitting in a classroom listening to some teacher list "facts" and then asking you to memorize them.

School has traditionally forced students into learning a certain way. Some learn best by writing; others by speaking. Some learn best by listening, others by reading.

This can sometimes be the underlying problem in "poor academic performance"; it's not that the student can't learn; it's just the environment.

Find some others you can talk to about your learning style. A good teacher should be willing to talk one-on-one with you.

I'm also 19 years old and have been debating if I should go to college or not. I don't enjoy school at all, but I love sitting here on my computer learning about starting a business. It is my dream to have an online business and quit my job. Your definitely not alone.

Go to college and study entrepreneurship. However, you should start your business as well. If it works then you can drop out. Like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Michael Dell etc.
The only way you can truly learn is by actually doing it.

Yea..as byrneof was suggesting.Get into a school where you can learn more what interests you.if its being on your own entrepreneurship course can be a good idea. This phase of life can be the best stage for learning and as a part time you can start your online activities..till they start getting bigger.Simply leaving the school without any financial support, shouldnt be the first option,if you ask me.

I am 19 as well...I have been mentored and I was a mentor...I am one year away from graduating college with a degree in finance and economics...I also feel as though school is a complete waste of my time...however, I have been investing since the fifth grade and I started my first business in the sixth grade, currently I own a venture capital holding company as well as the website SuccessfulYoungInvestor.com...as much as I felt that school was a waste of time and that I was experienced and ready enough to dropp out you cant leap from one stone to another without that next stone being there for you. If you dropp out of school now or don't continue your education you will just be leaping into the water without that next stone to swim to and without the safety jacket of a solid education to keep you afloat...As much as it pains me to say this, school is important, that is until you are Mark Zuckelberg, Bill Gates, Michael Dell, or at least until you have a viable business (stone) to leap onto...If you are interested in speaking some more or communicating with other young individuals in your same situation please join up my site and contact me once you have.

I've learned that you don't need a degree (which you'll probably end up not needing or using anyway) to be successful, but as you grow older and compete with the world around you, you will feel SAFETY from your degree. It is kind of like an insurance policy. If you change your mind later on, you might regret not getting your degree.

Success all depends on what your idea of success and happiness is (mine was definitely not "go through motions of learning about crap I don't care about... then graduate... then maybe do couple more years of it at grad school... have a ton of debt... work really long hours for someone else to pay off that debt.") You can find where your TRUE passion is and brainstorm a way to monetize it to be successful and happy.... DURING or AFTER your undergraduate degree.
