Ideablob's June winner is a doctoral student at Emory in Atlanta. She is starting a non-profit that teaches inner city kids about astronomy. You can check out more details here

July's contest is well on its way with four finalists already set. Three of the four are social entrepreneurs and the fourth wants to design custom lingerie for you. Not a bad group so far.

I know that Will posted before we were deemed one of the overall vote-getters for July, but please don't count Starting Artists out of the July Finals on Ideablob.com.

We're so excited about the tremendous support we have received and I want to thank everyone for voting for us so far. The prize money would be used to inspire more young entrepreneurs through seed-funding and technical assistance.

Our mission addresses both the creative side (classes in the media arts), as well as the business side (a focus on entrepreneurship and enterprise creation) of being a social entrepreneur.

So far, we've been able to serve 50 students in classes ranging from business plan research & writing to Photoshop, Illustrator, and other professional media programs. In addition, we bring in guest speakers from the arts & business world as well as taking students on trips to innovative institutions working at the intersection of arts & business across NYC.
