    Facebook Apps and Connect

I've have been trying to do a little bit of research for my website to decide if I want to add one if not both of these features to hope market my company.

Originally, I was going to create a Facebook Application so that people wouldn't have to come onto the website to learn about bars, clubs, events, etc. I thought this would be a great way to pull users to my website from the this large resource.

My new idea is using Facebook Connect so that Facebook users can just sign in on my website with their Facebook accounts without have to do a full length sign up. The best part about using it is that you can check what events you can recommend the user to publish to their Facebook page.

Now that I summarized, I was wonder if anybody has created a Facebook App or is using Facebook Connect? How long does it take to include either or both of these features with your website? Finally, are you getting more visits and pageviews on your website because of this (is it worth the return)? Thanks in advance!

Seems I respond to every thread of yours, but I have built several facebook apps and do not like thgeir platform. I'm a .NET developer and that was part of the problem, the SDK for .NET was basically crap. The second problem though was facebook's actual API. They don't necessarily make things backwards compatible when they update, so your app can break because facebook pushes an update. It's also very restrictive, and often conflicted with the .NET framework. They're still the biggest ones around though and definitely worth investigating. If I built another facebook app I would do it in php <shudder>. The connect API I'm sure is easier to work with and less restrictive.

I've actually never used Facebook connect, but I will definitely look into it. From what you say, it sounds like an excellent idea though.

facebook connect is so sweet, saves me the hassle of signing up. I would reccomend it to make it easier for people to join. Also you piggy back on the mainstream trusted brand of FB which helps you too.
