Best social networking techniques?

Anyone have suggestions on the best social networking sites and/or techniques?

We've launched a organic hangover patch and we are marketing primarily through the internet. I've got experience with affiliate marketing, so we're launching an affiliate program. However, I'm trying to do some social networking because I know with a product we have it can be very effective.

There's tons of options out there- To start, you might want to check out ABC's of Social Networks

If you think Twitter might be something useful for your business, check out the link in my signature.

My advice would be to choose one or two networks, and publicize them as much as possible. Let people know that they can engage with you/your product on the web. Basically, don't keep it a secret that you are participating in Social Media.
