    VBH promo

Well, we're going to promote www.verybadhabits.com - Home with a free email offer. You post ten posts to the forums and you get a free email account. What say you? Good idea? Terrible idea?

Is a free e-mail address that much of an incentive for peoples' time? They could just go to hotmail, gmail or any of the other many e-mail providers and get a free e-mail address without the work.

This will only work if your website is a strong brand and people want to be associated with that brand. For example, if TMZ or Perez Hilton were to do this they would get a huge response because they have a brand that people want to be a part of. It would look "cool" to have a TMZ or Perez Hilton e-mail address and that would be an incentive to do the posting.

The thing that worries me about the free email offer is the security aspect of it,with the big major players in the game yahoo etc you can use them knowing it would not be viewed in any shape or form. Please note that i am not saying that yours will not be safe but people do think about things like this.

Actually one of my concerns too, but I think the demographic we're looking at is a little less picky. As far as brandability, as mentioned above, we're not branded at all, this is true, but we do get around 1000 uniques a day on the month. Just started site last month so nothing really to speak of there. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean anything until we've been doing that kind of traffic for 3-6 months.

Hello there, I just visited your site and it looks awesome. A free email account would be a nice offer only if it has high security and can be trusted for the users.
