Hello everyone. I was hopping to get some feedback on the site overhaul I am working on. It still needs work and you can see some of the notes in red.

I am going to be adding a section to the website for funny animal pictures You will be able to view, rate and comment on each picture. To try to remind people about this part of the site I have a picture on the right side of the index you will be looking at. Make sure you move your mouse over that picture and tell me what you think. I do not have the picture page up yet, so that link will go to the index your looking at.

Let me start by saying that, as an animal lover myself, I definitely support your project 100% and hope you succeed. However, at the moment, I prefer the old site. It is possible that I need to see the completed new version before I fully decide. But, at the moment let me tell you what stood out that I would suggest changing.
1. The google search bar - it is right at eye level on the screen. That is one of the first things the eyes fall on and I don't think that is a good idea. People's eyes should rest on something positive about your site, something descriptive or with good content.
2. Your logo is a bit small and placed way up in the right hand corner. I really like the "fur, fins feathers..." tag, so make sure your visitors can read it without straining. Make it easy for them.
3. The page boxes could be designed/placed a bit better

Overall, I really like the concept and I think I can see what you are trying to do with the new site. I look forward to seeing the finished product, I am sure it will turn out well. Good luck

You might want to do a custom design. You need a header or banner or something to make it more interesting. The logo is very nice but you should enhance your site to match the logo. Let me know if you need some help.

I agree with the above comments.... you're original site is more attractive (which may change since you're new site isnt complete...

I'd suggest leaving the large logo at the top center.. adding the valuable content, youtube video, and then at teh bottom of the page the googlebar...

I also thought that your forum login should be directly above the most recent 5 posts... they sort of go handin hand..then move the funny pet pic logo to where you were originally going to place the forum login - i only say this because i work on a sml 12 in monitor and when i rolled over that picture it went out of view. I could only see a sml portion of the picture and when i tried to scroll over to see the remainder of the picture the roll over turned off....

chaunna ~ Thank you for your coments as well. I like the idea of moving the login, like you said it goes hand in hand. I will do that.

crackah ~ I will try to be nice and not go off. But I have to say that was pretty rude. Keep in mind that not everyone has ultra skill to make the best site and also not everyone has the money to pay someone else to do it for them. The site will evolve as my skills evolve. If I had someone else make the site for me then that would ruin this for me. I am trying to be origanal and put myself into the page. Yes I know I am using a template for now but that is beside the point. Like I said, just rude.

Really, yes its not great and your older site was better. The best way to learn CSS and DHTML is by using firebug and edit the css while in browser.

Thats how I learnt how to code.

OK did some changes but looks like I might have to make the mouseover picture of the dog smaller or something. Because now it bleeds into the text on the site.

**Edit to add. Yes I think the logo looks much better there.

LOL crackah, I love your honesty! And you are so right about giving people the truth. I know I would rather hear the truth, even if it's as blunt as your replies. You have to be able to take some negativity if you are going to ask for other peoples opinions.

Ans yes, those 2 places crackah posted are great for getting a free web page template that isn't cheap looking. I have used joomla in the past. It really helped me.
