I must ask why you are doing this. Did you see throwing in a charity as a way to make money where you otherwise couldn't? Were you searching for a way to help?

I suppose I shouldn't be skeptical, as at least some of the money would go to charity. But I still hate the idea of using such charities or other excuses as a means to reaching one's personal financial goals.

    Integrity.

Heh, I just realized there was a second page here.

Anyway, your skepticism is certainly allowed and well-deserved - talking to someone you do not know and have never met, but I must say this is not the case. If you want the full story, I started off on this plan about a week and a half ago. In all honesty, my new year's resolution was to be more charitable, and help someone or some group out. I do not consider myself well off by any means, but I recognize the issues abroad, and I realize that what we consider a small "insignificant" sum of money can go a long way towards producing change in other countries. I have always been interested in web design so the two ideas naturally fell together. Skeptical as you are, whatever percentage of funds I keep is simply going to cover my personal investment both in time and money. I came to this site to get insight into the business side of things, I figured (and was correct) that I could find a few individuals to give me some feedback. Your help so far has been much appreciated.

Of course I am disappointed to hear your opinions on this marketing idea. I think you all have convinced me its not that great of an idea. But all is not lost - really this just means I need a new (slightly less crappy) domain name, and I'm good to go - I can start something else. So here I am, racking my brain for a new idea.

If you are going to go forward with this I have domains that I was going to use for a similar project: 18 total w/ 1 main address and then individual addresses for each charity that I work with. I'll sell you them all for $500. This will give you a chance to do multiple charities at once. Make an offer if you are interested... I'll even throw in my business plan if you like...

This might be a moot point, but why not donate "100% of profits?" Same result, if all you plan to do is cover costs, and you look more legit.
