Opinions needed for My new Website Come Act

Hi everyone, I've just launched a new website called ComeAct. It's a free Job board for Acting / modeling / singing / Filming crew / dancing jobs.

    What do you all think?

    Wow that's real impressive. Props

One thing I wouldn't rush in on so fast is the Google Ads. This is just my little rule, but I try to keep the spammy annoying ads off the site until it starts drawing decent traffic.

It's up to you.. that's just something I believe in. I absolutely hate going back to sites that I know are flooded with ads unless it's my only option. I like sites that are clean and have quality resourceful information on them. If I think I could make my users experience just a little better by forfeiting a few extra dollars a day by removing ads, I'll do it. If they come back over and over again because I went that extra step to keep my site nice and clean, then eventually it'll pay off in the long run.

One example of this... Twitter... They still don't have any ads on their site and they're generating millions of hits a day.

Yeah, I agree with Chris. I clicked on the ads thinking that they were a part of the database and got pretty disappointed.

Yeah, for a start it will be best to remove the ads. This is mostly because I think the site is better, cleaner and has a more professional look without them now.
But it is a nice site, like it!

The ads are definitely sketchy. They look way too much like part of the site.

You should have a default tab, like "All" or "Home" that is selected by default.

When a tab is selected, the area with all the listings needs to appear like it is contained in that tab area. Right now they seem disjointed.

Change your styles for the Facebook share button so that it doesn't change the background. I'd also move that Share button, it doesn't deserve to be top left. I'd move it beside the filter on the right, the "For Pay" and "No Pay" ones.

Change the hover effect on the "For Pay" links. Right now they just disappear because they're set to white.

For the dates I'd remove that clock. I kept clicking on it and hovering on it. I thought it would show the time or something.

Change your date format to use text for the month. There is too much confusion for your users if they see 02-03-2010. Feb 3rd? March 2nd? I'd just go Mar 2nd 2010.

The links to the location on a listing page don't have "http://" in front of them so they're not working.

Small nitpick, but I'd change the category "Commercial" to "Commercials". The rest of your categories are pluralized so it keeps it consistent.

It would be nice to be able to filter by city.

All in all I think it's a good site. Well done!

Everyone thank you so so much, your feedback are amazing. I've somehow didn't manage to check some aspects. Thank you especially the details.

Anything else guys? How do you find the changes?

They're in a great place to trick people into clicking on them. I'm not sure if that's a good long term strategy. Eventually you'll get spotted as a site that generates low quality clicks, and you might also tick off your users.

Also, if you start getting lots of high quality traffic I think that giving the option to pay to have your job posting at the top of the results might be a better revenue model. Maybe a combination would be good as well.

it is a great site i like the idea shooot too bad i didnt think of it...but it is rather broad ....it's almost like a cl type of site and you are going to get posters from every where...so its not GEO targetted i guess thats what I am saying...i like the site but the ads i would probably leave them in it and put it in later on and how do you screen these posts? because I know spammers could just spam the living shit out of it if there is no way to screen the posts....
