NEW Website-Please Review!
Hey...
I finally got around to getting a professional website made, our template just wasn't working for us. It is still in the process of being built, and none of our products have been added yet, but please review the homepage for me. I'm just not sure what to do with it. It looks fine as it is, but there just seems to be something missing. I was hoping you all could give me some direction on what to do with it (so then I can relay it to my site builder). It is currently being hosted on his site, and our other one is still up and running, so please feel free to check out his site as well, hes a very talented artist (we have some of his work in our store), and only charges $15/hr. for site building.
Black Heart Inc.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Katie

Site Feedback.
Huge upgrade, my friend. Looks good. Lose the template site now or sooner.
My only suggestion would be for the buttons on the left side: Ditch the grey buttons and go with just the text as the links, but use a gothish, emo-ish, ish-ish font.

landing pages are bad for Search Engine Optimization and attention spans.
The overall design looks amateurish. Between the reflection the gradients and the font use its not incredibly cutting edge but thats what you get for 15 dollars and hour.
Get rid of the Grey buttons (style is outdated) and the cart button does not look very polished.
I have not seen your old site to compare any improvements so I cant make a judgment that this is better or not.

I have to say in todays cut throat clothing market you have to have that WoW factor in a website to make it showcase your products this in my opinion would be a suicidal move to use that site as it is.

so what would be your advice on how to improve it? What didn't you like and why? How would you change the site?

What i have just done is used (Punk/Emo/Goth Clothing and Accessories) in Google search and picked at random a site like this to give you some idea SUBCULTURE WEAR - HOME - goth, gothic, punk and emo clothing this is a site at no1 position for those keywords and the site has a Page Ranking of 3 if you see what the competition are doing you can try to achieve the same or aim higher. This is only a suggestion and how i would tackle it

Mega is right. A clothing or fashion site needs to have a huge WOW factor. For instance, I like the site design Armani has at Designer Clothing at Armani Exchange. The site is very interactive and entertaining, but at the same time you don't get lost in a bunch of complex features and buttons.

Rlorenzen: I agree with you, that is a great site. Unfortunatly, we don't have the same kinda funds ARMANI EXCHANGE has...so the whole hiring models thing is kinda out of the picture. Plus, we are not going for a nice, light and airy website....we're going for a little bit darker, more goth of a website. I don't mean to be so defensive, and I know I'm coming off that way.

Only one suggest, people like as few clicks as possible when going onto a site and they make there minds up in the the 1st 20 seconds if they want to carry on and have a look with that in mind would it not be a idea to do away with that skull opening page and go direct to the next page,i think lamarsh also mentioned it in a fashion.
