Drew Evans - Corporate Art - Corporate Identity

Hi people,

i am really pleased with what i have read on this website, will be a great asset over the coming weeks/months/years.

I started building my website about 2 months ago on and off during work and study and at the moment it isn't very popular [but that's ok for now as it's not finished] I submitted it to google thinking i could continually add stuff to it but that didn't work. : ) - in the future when the basics are done i will add a blog which will effectively become a tutorial/news/tips/information section.
that way, separating the 'sales and marketing' from the 'information' - dont know yet though.

so far this month i have had 140 views [15th May] which i think is ok for something which hasn't been marketed. I think all of those were purely from facebook.

If people could view my website at

Drew Evans - Corporate Art - Corporate Identity. Graphic Design - Design

it would be much appreciated - and be as blunt as possible.
the more raw feedback i get, the better it will become.

it's not 100% working in IE at the moment, so if you have mozilla, please use that instead.
Cheers,

Drew

[it would be good to be able to edit the actual post title.... does any forum have that capability?]

You have really nice portfolio. But site design is not so good at all

I can suggest you to get professional design.

On your pricing page, you provide a link to a PDF that is not available. I get a 404 page not found error when I try to download it.

Also, I'm not too keen on the red navigation whenever I mouse over it. I'm guessing you are trying to go to the color of your logo, which could work. But the color doesn't match exactly, so in my mind it loses that effect a little. Also, please ditch the adsense at the bottom. If I'm a potential client of yours, I'll be happy to pay you for your services, but there's no chance I'll click on an ad on your site. I already see too many ads and quite possibly arrived at your site through an ad somewhere.

Hope that helps a little. I understand you're not yet done with it, so I won't go into the normal spiel about content.

Clean design and so nice of you to give your users the option of clicking over to your competition from the AdSense ads on your pages.

yeah my thoughts exactly...

I know they shouldn't be there, i just wanted to know how many people actually click on them [not often enough it seems]

i find i use them on sites all the time, providing i know it isn't leading directly to a product.

Nice and clean site.
Only why not use your own art in the styling of your website?
Now you see only 1 watergraphic, but maybe you could use that space to randomly present some of your art.

You MUST get rid of the AdSense. Why is that on there? AdSense is for monetizing a website that isn't monetized otherwise. Very unprofessional. Ditch it and focus on your core business.

Other than that, you're on the right track and it looks good.

rightinpoint - if you have done website design i'd love to see what you've done.............................I'VE NEVER DONE IT BEFORE - GIVE ME A ****ING BREAK.
Ok. Unless you decide to be a professional, keep on asking for help and then flipping out at people for the feedback they give you. In no way was anyone obligated to make any comments or suggestions at all, but we did, and you decided that rightinpoint's were irrelevant and useless to you.

I disagree. I believe his comment of getting a professional design is valid and could be equally applied to your attitude on this forum. You'll find a lot of very helpful, friendly people on YE...unless you act like a pompous jerk. We understand you've never made a site before; it is obvious! But if your desired clientele is professionals, then you and all of your communications (website, email, forum postings, phone calls, etc.) MUST be professional, at least until a relationship exists which allows otherwise.

Also, an ellipsis consists of 3 (three, count them, ..., 3) periods in a row, not separated by any spaces or other characters--NOT 4 to 40, or however many you feel necessary at the time to convey your annoyance and frustration. Take care of that on your site; it adds to the lack of professionalism.

So, going forward:
1) Be pissed at this response if you choose, just don't ask me for more advice
or
2) Take it for what its worth and respond with some appreciation (or less annoyance) for our donation of time and energy to you and I'll be more than happy to offer up additional assistance in the future.

It is your call.

Hey, thanks. It isn't every day I can write something that is more than 1 paragraph and still makes sense by the end.
