Budgetcontrol.com - A tool to balance the national budget

Budget Control is a website that offers a free, non-partisan tool that allows users to see what our national budget looks like. Users can then try to balance the budget themselves or apply plans that politicians have previously published. Once you are finished, you can send your ideas to your political representatives just by entering in your zip code.

Great little idea, I had some fun and reduced the deficit whilst reducing taxes, increasing spending in education and healthcare!

One thing I would add is perhaps try to make the black text less monotonous.

I am a big fan of these types of sites. I think I used the one the NY Times had a couple of times. I see some pros and some cons.

Pros: This is very timely with the fiscal cliff coming soon, it will be in the news for the next couple of months at least.

Cons: It will take time and specific economics knowledge to keep the site updated. Already some of the options are dated as they were proposed by Romney/Ryan, the real test will be the ability to integrate new proposals as they come up into play, and there will be a lot of specific proposals floated in the near future.

I also noticed a bit of a discrepancy. Your choice titled "Allow continuation of Bush tax cuts on income below $250,000" is explained as the return to Clinton era tax levels for all income levels, but this is not correct as not all brackets would be impacted. Something is not correct there.

Another discrepancy I noted was that you have listed "Reduce active military personel from 1.5 million to 1.3 million in Europe and Asia" I don't really think we have that many troops in Europe and Asia. Something sounds wrong there.

In conclusion: it needs some quality control and is not the type of site that you can set and forget without it getting outdated soon.
