    Where to host my estore???!

Hi, I have some experience with web design and html but am in no way a professional. Can someone please give me advice on where to start my estore? What is all involved in setting up this kind of website? Where do I host it? What are the best packages for starting a website?

    Thanks!

If you want to succeed in e-commercing, use simplehelix.com services as they are optimized for running e-stores in a positive way.
Magento is supported well on their servers.

    Hi HD,

I've got over 100 shopping cart sites hosting with me. It's what I specialize in. And it's folks like you who are clients.

There are hundreds of cart scripts available, and you may want to look at a few before deciding on which to use. Some are free, some have a cost. Much depends on your type of business, what payment providers you will use, where all you will be shipping, if you are selling downloadable goods, etc.

But for a quick answer, the carts are pretty much good to go out of the box. What makes a difference on the net is how they look to the visitor. This is done through templates that overlay the cart. 200 people can have the same cart underneath and their sites will all look different.

Templates have to be done to match the cart you decide upon. They are available from free to $$$$. Most are in the "under $100" class. There is no one size fits all, the template must match the cart.

You can start with me. I host carts for as low as $4.49 per month, I'll install the first one for free. Just the install, not the cart, although there are some good free carts. In fact, most people use a free cart. I also offer "hold your hand" service to get you going. I'm there to answer your questions, but with the goal of having you on your own.

I'll tell you as much as you want to hear, just PM me and I'll get into it deeper with you. Or use the Contact Us on the website below.

When selecting cheap website hosting, be sure that the web host provider is trustworthy. As for recommendation, have a look at webintellects.com e-commerce hosting plans as this company can be a good option for running e-shops. It offers MIVA order shopping cart software, so you will be happy running your e-shops secured and fast.

Do you just need a place to host a single site? Or are you looking for long term expansion? There if of course reseller type hosting (basically the ability to split sites into different accounts) then of course there are Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and naturally Virtual Machines (VM's)

If you jump into something virtual, I have a bias toward VM's. VM's are "truly virtual" hosting platform's. VPS's are basically software virtualization not much better than shared hosting IMHO. Sure you get more control, but a true VM such as Xen or VMWare is much better. Xen being the most common in the web hosting arena.

There is managed/unmanaged, budget/performancne. They are easy to scale, so you can start with a $20-$30/Mo VM and scale it to a $100-$200/Mo VM depending on the resources you need. Similar to a cloud type hosting, cloud being a loose and hyped hosting term which means just about anything.

    At any rate:
Shared can scale to Reseller, which in turn can scale to a VPS or VM. Naturally its easiest if you scale across the same control panel, makes migrating from Shared to Reseller easier, and from Reseller to VPS or VM easier. Scaling a VPS or VM is even easier because there is no migration, an administrator tweaks your settings, maybe reboots your VM and bam, done.

As mentioned above, There are several ways to go about getting started. To simplify, there are Three (3) major components to setting up an online store. The first is your website and hosting. The second is your shopping cart and products. Third would be your processor. As you qualify each portion, you will find many companies provide you with incentives and discounts when you combine a majority of your services within that same company. EC Suite is just one example of this. E C suite also includes marketing and affiliate tools as well. This should be kept in mind when getting started. You can never ask too many questions. I hope that this information is helpful.
