what's the best eMail & domain hosting service for small business?

I own a small service business w/ several remote staffers. I need a good eMail & domain host that is easy to work with, easy to use and will grow with us as the company grows. What are your top picks?

Truth be told any general shared host will due for most of your needs. E-mail systems, contrary to user opinion are typically very reliable.

That being said I'll plug myself I work with small and medium businesses specifically to provide scaling hosting. PM me if you would like to talk.

I've been with Godaddy for a couple of years now, and haven't had any problems. Sure, they get plenty of negative reviews on the net, but the servers have been stable, and my hosting is compatible with just about anything that I throw at it.

As far as email, I used to use Godaddy's email solutions that came with my hosting package, but go tired of not having Imap, etc. I came across a workaround using Google Apps that moves all of my email accounts from Godaddy's servers to Google. I get between 8 and 25 gigs of storage per account (depending on whether I go with Google Apps free or Small Business), and as steady an up-time as I've ever seen. I get most of my emails via my Blackberry. It takes approx. 15-30 seconds from the time an email gets sent until it's on my Bold. Can't beat that, lol.

As far as support- GoDaddy has been great at answering even the mos mundane questions. Because of my mobile lifestyle, I get all of my faxes via email (also through Godaddy). One day I had to spend 30 min on the phone with their customer support trying to handle a fax that didn't get through to me. As it turns out, my assistant on the other end was just dallying and hadn't actually sent the fax until the 31st min. of my conversation with the tech. All of a sudden, the tech says "Well, I think I've found it", and at the same moment the fax showed up as a PDF on my Blackberry. The timestamp was for 1 min. prior. I felt a bit foolish apologizing to the tech for blaming them- he laughed and said not a problem- that it happens all the time.

Hey tlouder,
I'm with PsiPro on this. It's really hard to go wrong with hosting unless you pick some new startup company. Just stick to the one's you always hear about and you'll be fine. I personally like Host Gator. I've tried Host Monster as well with no problems. I'm not a fan of Godaddy, infact I would love to never do business with them again.

From my personal experience Godaddy.com will nickle and dime you for everything. Other sites like Fat Cow are great and are all inclusive except for IMAP email(which is a deal breaker for me). Most hosting sites have the same features for comparable prices, just get a list of what you need in a host. Like for me, I need IMAP and unlimited bandwidth. This will help your researching hosts much easier.

For email, i would go with Google Apps. There is a free version, and a payed one (50 dollars per user per year with 99.9% uptime).

It uses the gmail engine on your domain.

Taking into consideration the situation you have fetched up at, I strongly believe that Sibername would be a perfect option for you as it offers nice terms of reselling their services. It has phone and live chat support which you can contact and discuss any issue you want.

JustHost.com is great -- $3.95/month. They're the ones I recommend for my clients and use.
