    What do IP blocks mean?

While I was searching the web I came across globaltap.com and recognized that it started to offer Special Summer Deal on IP Blocks. What is IP block? Could anyone explain me?

Blocking a certain IP Address and restrict those addresses to access your site.

Although that is an IP Block, the IP Block he is referring to is different.

IP Addresses typically look something like this: 123.123.123.123 right?

As you probably know a single IP address is a reference to a single network device (complex routing aside).

Now as you can see above the IP address consists of four sets of numbers, each ranging from 1 to 256. And each of these numbers is called a block.

    Block A.Block B.Block C.Block D

your computer for example has a single block D address assigned to it.

What this company is offering is every block D address under a block C. For example, you may be provided with the block C address 123.123.1.* so you can use any address that starts with that. 123.123.1.1 to 123.123.1.254 (they say only two are unusable and I do not know which ones they are).

In short, your buying a chunk of the web. However what you will do with that escapes me given this target market. Don't let them try to sell this service to you you most likely don't need it.
