Question for experienced web masters.

Right now I have a few web sites which are managed by a company called homestead.com. I am planning on buying a few more sites in the near future and I will not be able to edit these sites with homestead because they have a site building program that cannot edit sites that are already created.

Because of this problem, I have decided that I need to manage the web site on my own. I am prepared to use html but I'm not sure how to go about managing web sites on my own. Can somone tell me what I need in order to do this and recommend some good services?

How do I get hosting? What html editor do I use? And how exactly does this all fit together like how do I get a page from the html editor so that it is published on my web site. I really have no experience with this because I have always used other companies to provide hosting and a means of building the site for me. I could really use some advice.
Thanks,
Frank

Also, is there such a thing as free hosting that is good enough to run a few sites from?
If so which ones should i consider?
Thanks,
Frank

Frank, I highly recommend you look into a company like Network Solutions. They have everything you need all under one roof. And they have 24-7 customer service in case you need assistance. By the way, their domains come with free hosting and you aren't subjected to look at advertisements like with other free hosting services

Thanks Dale!
I noticed you mentioned the hosting that you use in another one of your posts. I checked it out and it looked good. I know its not free but would you recommend it for my purposes or not?

godaddy or bluehost

Godaddy is also a good option. They also have the site builder software and 24X7 support. Also you can have multiple sites in just one host. So it is really economical.

Bluehost is one of best web host I have come across. But they don;t provide turn key arrangement.
