    Parked Domain Names

I have in mind for about 3 years now, a web site to buy, but it has been parked ever since. this year I was waiting until maybe they would let it run out but they renewed at the last moment. Should I just go ahead and back order this thing? Does anyone think it'll cost me both my legs and arms in the end?

BTW What do you think about GoDaddy web hosting?

ugh i hate this s*** i have so much trouble getting domain names because people park them all the time just to sit and do nothing with it. Just wait and see, 10 years from now, it will be impossible to get a straight forward domain name.

Have you contacted the owners and asked them if they are willing to sell?

GoDaddy is very, very basic for shared hosting. There are much better options out there.

Their is this whole underground business of people who purchase domain names just to sell them. They have usually hundreds or thousands of domains registered under their names. But believe me, if the name is not a VERY brandable or marketable name, then they are willing to unload it for usally double what they paid for it. So like $20. They will try to sell it for MUCH more but just stick to your guns. The chances that their are other offers on the table are slim.

If the domain is 3 or 4 letters, good luck. Those are the expensive domains to purchase.
