    Litespeed vs eCommerce

Is that true that Litespeed server is better for eCommerce than Apache, because it is faster?

I have seen this on simplehelix.com website and since this company has major eCommerce direction - I supposed the Litespeed they use suits better, so, what could you tell me?

I can agree that Litespeed server is much faster than Apache and for this reason it will be better to choose this server to run your e-commerce web sites fast and efficiently. As for recommendation, have a look at proaxxs.net as this company provides really fast and uninterrupted hosting services. Its stability, reliability and reputation go outside the bounds in every aspect of the question.

Think simplehelix is on the right way providing e-commerce services on Litespeed as it is really faster than Apache and Magento is run all right on it.

    Both offer Magento.
    Pricing is quite modest.

There are e-stores and there are e-stores.

If you are running the internet version of a "mom and pop" store who will ever notice. If you are Amazon it will certainly make a difference.

I host 100 or so shopping cart sites for small businesses on an Apache server with no speed problems whatsoever. Would I handle Costco the same way? Certainly not. But for MOST small and mid-sized businesses with shopping cart sites there is no discernible difference as long as the server itself has the horsepower to do the job.

From my experience, LiteSpeed costs a bit more money but is well worth it if you are looking for TRUE PERFORMANCE. Sometimes people do not want to spend the money to get an enterprise edition of litespeed, and they do not get the full capabilities of using it.

If you are on a tight budget, you can use Apache for free.

Litespeed is a significant speed increase when compared side by side with apache when running a significant website, its better at running PHP scripts and pulling images, etc.

When running any general site it really isn't better, although with e-commerce it is better, because you do have alot of scripts running in the background, while users may not recognize the speed the server certianly will because it'll give you more bang for your buck when running a dedicated machine.

In my honest opinion from my experience, yes. LiteSpeed is better, however a properly configured server is somewhat similar in speed. I know the eDesignerz.com windows servers run farely well, as well as tnt-webhosting.com linux servers.

Apache2 is very powerful and secure though...there is a reason why Uncle Sam uses Apache for most of it's website platforms.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but...

    Litespeed is fast
Apache2 is usually just as fast if the hosting company knows what they are doing.

Just figured I'd throw that out there, Litespeed is also pretty much a direct drop in replacement for Apache. So whatever Apache can do, Litespeed should also be able to do in some form, usually in the same fashion. It's that marketing hype stuff again.
