is it possible?

is it possible to run a website from my pc? i know i can turn my pc into the server for my site but can i set up my own domain name free of charge from my pc as well?

I don't think you would be able to set up a domain name on your local machine free of charge. It is possible but to be honest I wouldn't bother setting up a website on your local machine as it would take up a lot of memory and so on. It would be more convenient and cheaper just to use a good web host.

don't bother with the hassle of running a site yourself - for like $9 or less a month you can get it hosted (with a free domain). And btw. setting up a server on your PC is technically very difficult - so unless youve taken a networking course don't bother

At the OP, that's rather complicated as it demands much resources and excellent uptime.
You may use glowhost company for running your web site as they are a low cost company with top-notch support which is active for 24 hours.
You may use discounts to have them cheaper.
