    How to buy someones domain

Hello all. I was wondering how to go about buying someone else's domain name. I own and operate journeyoftheanimals.com (currently down because of huge server problems). When I registered the name of journeyoftheanimals.com I thought of also registering jota.com to make the name of the site a bit shorter but I was dumb and did not register the domain. Well JOTA.com has been registered by someone and it seems like just some sort of site with ads on it, no content or anything. I know you can do the dns search and find the e-mail and so forth but I am still a little unsure of how to approach this and also have no idea how much to offer.

Anyone here do this before? I could use some advice.

    Thank you in advance.

Jota.com has been register by someone else as far as I can see, at least since 2000. I'm going to guess since it's a short 4 letter word, it was register way before that. That date is just a date it was renewed again.

Basically what's going on with it, it's been snatched up by a domainer, and it's worth a lot of money. I don't think they would sell it for any amount of money you are willing to pay for it.

You could call and inquire if you're interested. But don't be shocked if they ask $100K for it.

Hmmm. Yeah I think 100k is a little too much right now. lol Maybe I will just try to come up with another shorter name that forwards to journeyoftheanimals.com or something.

    What about journeyanimalia.com -- it's available.

Either that or animaltreks.com -- a twist on the name.

journeyanimalia was a misspelling when I joined the forums. I like the idea of animaltreks or something like that.
