    Hosting for Photo Business

I am trying to start a business where we take photos of guests at a resort and sell them. Much like what you see at amusement parks. We need a way to upload our photos onto a website so we can sell them. We will be taking hundreds of photos a day, so we need a lot of storage and bandwidth. Any ideas on where to host it?

I would recommend using a custom solution. Have a freelancer set up a site that allows for quick uploading, automatic watermarks for sample images, and a simple payment gateway.

You can take a look at using EyeFi cards- snap a pic, and let it automatically upload to your comp or the net. Most resorts have decent WiFi coverage, but I would go with a portable setup. 1 laptop with good battery life, 1 portable router, a carry-on bag and a power strip. Run the power strip out of the side of the bag, and plug the router and computer run into it. Roll the case with you until you find a good location, and plug it in. Lock it to something secure, and make sure that you've fore-warned security about it (don't want the bomb squad blowing up your expensive hardware, lol).

From what I understand, EyeFi will auto-upload to services like Flickr. You may be able to get some type of link between your Flickr account and your site, or hand-code a solution that will cause the card to automatically upload directly onto your site.

I like your idea paul, but the Eye-fi is a SD card and most DSLR cameras like the ones we use are compact flash. You can get adapters, but they are not supported, and from what I read were not reliable. Also in the cold temperatures camera batteries don't work as long, and the Eye-fi uses the camera battery to power itself. The internet at our resort is terrible. There is no WiFi, except at Starbucks. There isn't even cell phone coverage except for ATT users. So that rules out the idea of using MiFi if the 5gig a month cap didn't already.

The Eye-fi website did lead me to Zenfolio which looks like it can handle our hosting and ordering needs. I just hope the internet at our resort can upload the pics fast enough.

I suggest you to try Exmasters as it offers nice web hosting plans suitable for image galleries. Think that you will be satisfied using their hosting services and advise you to contact them directly as their IT technicians are well-trained and absolutely committed to their clients' satisfaction.

I love the idea - it seems like a much more efficient way of achieving the family photo. You'll be looking, I assume, for a large amount of disk space and if your website is going to be accessed regularly you're likely to use a lot of bandwidth too - especially if you're uploading/downloading photos.

I have a few recommendations for you, of which I will contact you directly via PM. Hope to speak to you soon.

I can highly recommend you to have a look at serverpoint.com web hosting offers or to contact their support team via Live Chat which is always online. The thing is that they build their own servers to the highest standards. Up to 8 CPU cores, brand quality components, tons of RAM, double and triple redundant power supplies and terabytes of dedicated RAID storage. Think it will be reasonable place for you.

Think glowhost, asmallorenage and apthost companies will be fine for you to host Photo business with them.
They support the necessary scripts for that and pricing policy isn't high on their services.
