A few domain name ideas. Thoughts?

I'm working on a website and am in the process of selecting a domain name. It's a niche site, focusing on the brain and nervous system (think of a specialized Scientific American). Here are the three names that I'm considering. Which is your favorite?

    a.) Neurotivity (dot) com
    b.) Cognitism (dot) com
    c.) DiscoverTheBrain (dot) com
    d.) none of the above

All three are easy to pronounce (even over the phone--I tried) and spell. The first two are fairly short, and the third one isn't really all that long either.

Opinions and constructive criticism are greatly appreciated.

If the content is mostly educational, option C would work pretty well.

Option A gives me the sense that it will be geared more towards more technical minded people, not because I would not understand, but at first glance that is what I would think.

It is mostly educational, but community/discussion-based as well.

My target audience is around the age of 16+ with a strong interest in science.

It depends on how much time, effort and money you have to put behind promoting either of the first two choices – basically educating folks as to what "cognitism" or "neurotivity" means. It would be much easier (and cheaper) to use a self-explanatory name like "DiscoverTheBrain."

I would think it would also be helpful in search engine ranking

Yeah, I suppose the debate here is whether to go with something brandable (in which case the choices would be A or B) or strictly informative (in which case C is the only option).

What I had in mind is that if someone were to say "I read this article on Neurotivity", others could recognize that as a specific website, whereas "I read this article on Discover the Brain" doesn't have that same effect. Does that make sense?

I see you bought neurotivity.com and discoverthebrain.com last week. Discover is probably the best to use because it's easiest to spell. If you tell someone "go to neurotivity.com" or "go to cognitism.com" they might not know how to spell it. I can't believe the responses I get from people when I say "go to envyelite.com". "Uh...what?" "ENVY ELITE" "Uh...E-N-...." you'd think I was speaking a foreign language.

HOWEVER, I'd buy up all of your ideas and have them link to the site anyways. You can never have enough domain names, they're virtual real estate- the hosting fees are the mortgage and the yearly domain fees are the property taxes.

The first two are cool, catchy names, but the third option is easier to communicate to people, so it might be safer to just use that one.

You hit the nail on the head.

All a matter of what percentage of your target demographic you intend to reach and how long you see this lasting. You only have branding ability with A and B.

But, I think ...personally, your best choice is to develop either (a) or (b). From there I would also acquire (c) and just use it as a redirect.

    my two cents

Sorry to touch on the same thing... but wouldn't it be nice to grab those folks with "DiscoverTheBrain" and when they reach the site, you have a nice Logo for "neurotivity.com" with some flash, whistles and bells ---and a message that reads something along the lines of "please wait while you're being redirected to "Neurotivity.com"
