why isn't google indexing my site?
Hi All,
I recently created a new website and submitted a sitemap to google using Google Webmaster Tools and the dashboard shows that my sitemap has been downloaded and there are no errors. However, it also says "Site not indexed". I thought maybe I just needed to give it time to crawl it but it's been a week and nothing so far.
So, is there something else I need to do to get indexed? I thought submitting a sitemap would be a lock but there must be something else. I read that I might need external links from other websites. Is that how all new sites do it - somehow get links to their site posted other places?
Tha<advance>nks

If you add your site to Digg it could well be picked up by the Big G in a couple of hours, its always my 1st port of call for a new site.

Have you submit your site to Google for Indexing? If yes, it will automatically indexed. Just wait for a week or two. Just continue to build links. Social Bookmarking and other submissions help your site to get listed.

What you have to do is sign up for free at Digg you then on the top after loggin in you will see the 'Submit New' icon on the top of the site just do a brief description of your site but you have to add the full domain anme including the http part of it the upload it to the section that is best for it and it will be picked up very fast but it has to have the full domain in the post about your site and what it does etc.
If you require any more help PM me and i will do what i can to help you.

The first thing I do for a new site is mention it in a hub on HubPages.com. HubPages has a VERY close relationship with Google- and hubs get indexed and submitted (and all enclosed links crawled) with 24 hours (usually quicker).

Register to Digg.com and complete your profile. After doing so, then you can see the submit button ontop and click it. Enter the desired URL and fill in the details and submit.

FYI-I lauched a new site on Aug 1. According to Bing.com's search engine they crawled it August 1 without me submitting a thing. The site is still not indexed with Google.

You can do either of the following to help you get index:
1. Search Engine Submissions - submit only once
2. Build links - back links helps your site get index. Deep linking helps your inner pages get index as well.

All methods are good to you can speed it up by adding it to Digg, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn etc, but you'll need to create accounts with them first. All these sites are picked up well by Google

This is rather interesting becuase so many people seem to have a difficult time getting indexed by Bing. So you must have had a very good anchor text link on a good site.
