Can someone explain to me how social bookmarking works? I have read the definition (still confused) I am active on digg, but I still don't understand how it useful to have your say "youtube" video linked with all those sites if it does not get "voted up." which is probably the case if you are just putting links on all these sites.

The reason I ask is I am in the process of developing a website that I want to incorporate the basic "bookmarking toolbar" of the popular bookmarking sites with each page, be it an article, image or vid.

Does it work like this:
Myspace/facebook : you will place the content on your feed for friends to view

digg: you place your content on their feed, and the more people that do the same, the higher it moves up the list

delicious: you are creating your own library of multiple bookmarks which can be shared with friends and others.
