How long does it take Google to index?
Does anyone know how long it takes Google to index a website or how often they crawl? Obviously there are a ton of websites and Google can't get to them every day, but I was just curious what your opinion is...
Cheers!

If its a new site you can add it to Digg, com and it can be picked up within a day that is the 1st place i go and get our sites indexed, regarding how often do they crawl if you add your site to Google Webmaster Tools you can then get your site verified and you can then dictate the crawl rate to certain extent.
Is it a new site ???

The fastest you can get your site indexed is by adding your anchor text link to a quality high PR site. You can probably get your site appear in google search result within hr.

If you want actual pages of your website indexed quickly(2-7 days from my experience). Install a blogging platform like Wordpress.

I've had mine listed leterally with in 60 seconds of submitting it. The trick is in how you submit it.

Mostly it takes a week or more for your website to get indexed.

Your goal is to get your site in as many spots as possible. This is how google will find it and index it. I've had cases where it takes a month if your not active. For example, if you have a blog make a good post and than submit it to a social bookmarking site.

Basically, just be sure to have your link on a site that one of the Spiders crawl constantly, and it won't take that long. But you should also submit a sitemap to Google to help the Spider along its way.
Buying backlinks is a big no-no, and can get your site banned from any Search Engine if you are reported.

Indexing - can be indexed anywhere from one day to several weeks. Add your site to Google if it's a new site - Add your URL to Google. Post it in as many social bookmarking sites as possible. Doesnt matter that it's a no-follow link.
Crawling - depends on your site's structure, how SEO friendly it is.

I mostly use HubPages as they seem closer with Google. Most sites take 5 days to index in my opinion, with HubPages submission and Sitemap submission.

One thing you can do to speed up the Google crawl is to register your website with google webtools.
Just do a search on Google for "Google webtools" and you will find the link to signup.
Once you login to your google webtools account you can add as many websites as you want. Google will give you instructions on how to get your website "verified". Its pretty simply and you can verify it on the sport.
Once your site is verified, google will quickly index your website. I've seen websites get indexed in just 1 day this way.
good luck

Using Google Webmaster Tools is a great idea, but don't forget about using the same tools for other search engines like Yahoo, bing, etc... the more search engines that list you high in their rankings the better you'll be and there are thousands on thousands of search engines.
Just a thought
