help... was first page on google for some terms yesterday... now goooone !!
i'm just wondering if that is normal... does google fluctuate it's rankings?
after 3 months i have a page rank of 2... on average 34 bots per day... with above 60 for the past 4 consecutive days
i did jump on a traffic exchange to test how accurate my stats/tracking are for normal visitors... and my test shows that its spot on... could this of bothered google though? does google see this as some sort of manipulation technique that can push my ranking down?
i don't advertise and all the traffic we get is natural through links or search engines... and these are crucial keywords that i gained top spot for in a day just by adding a new page to the website and now lost just as quickly (even though the page is still live)

I've had the same thing happen to me recently, however it wasn't after any specific traffic tracking. Although you have a PR2 maybe the quality of one of your backlinks changed. Although PR appears static (e.g. google toolbar) it is forever changing.
I probably wasn't much help however....good luck with your rankings!

Page rank will get changed every 3 months. And it's position may depend on number of back links and keywords. etc.

i'm not worried about the page rank... that is still 2 with google... i was questioning why i am #1 for keywords one day and then nowhere to be seen the next... it's not a big deal as i have checked and many other keywords have risen to the top... so it sort of evens itself out somehow

Keep in mind that PR is in flux for google's purposes but the PR on the google toolbar only gets updated once every couple of months.
Therefore google knows what your PR actually is...they just wait a few months to let you know...
The last PR update that happened a few months ago surprised a lot of people. Many site got downgraded for practices such as link buying...google's getting smarter....are we surprised??

To the thread starter, the primary reason why you are no longer taking the No. 1 position could be the fact that you are facing some kind of competition for the term.
Apart from having on page search engine optimization elements to compete, you need to start building links that have an anchor text bearing the keywords that you are targeting. For example, if you want to target "music label shops in new york", you need to build links that point back to your site using "music label shops in new york".
PR will hold no values if you are not building your links as the method that I have specified above. But when facing tough competition, PR will actually come into play.

There is a good chance you actually got penalized. This happens when Google thinks you are trying any sort of black hat techniques to rank higher in search results. If this is the case, use your Google Webmaster Tools account to request reconsideration (this can take up to 1-2 months)...and remember guys PR doesn't really have as much to do with the way you rank on search engines as you guys are implying. You can have a low PR and still rank well against sites with a high PR. PageRank and search rank are not the same.
