Well i don't think its totally Wastage Of Time , If you are posting Free Submissions On Directories then you can get some benefits in future, But its not gonna help you to get good serps nor any PR ... so if you have some free time then you can surely Can submit your Site to Lot of free directories ... After some time you'll get some back links from some of them ... But don't go for Paid Directory Submission ...

I have submitted my site to free directories and I do not receive any visitors from there. It is waste of time, in my opinion. Instead, I am for getting quality back links from relevant sites (it is not easy, but, it will be more effective)

Though its expensive, submitting to Yahoo! directory is yields good ROI. But just be careful as to where you submit to else they'll take your money and not refund same.

Exactly the same question in ma mind was running down. I have experienced by ma own self that DIR do matter but it will take time to approve . I suggest you to make Submission to DIR it will give value in future ven it is approved. Problem with DIR is it will take very long time to approve.... from quality sites.... Bit waste of time but it will credit to our site as well for improving rank in searches as well...

They said you'll gain one way backlinks if you submitted your site to different directories online. Nowadays, you have to wait for a long period of time in order for your site to get approved. In this case, I suggest not to concentrate too much in submitting to directories, instead focus on different link building techniques like social bookmarking/networking or forum posting.

It's still effective if you are submitted your site in the relevant category in a web directory.

It depends on the directory, but in general it all counts, I have a list of about 200 that I submit to with new sites.

Directories are the basic and good source of getting one way links for the website. If the directory indexed or cached timely by Google and have good reputation in result pages then directory submission is effective and helpful.

Adding to directories is a great first step. You might not see much activity as a referring site- but you'll get some link juice.

It can help rankings, which will help traffic.
