Hi,

I'm sitting up my first website and I don't know a lot still. It's up and running, but not finished. My question is:

How important is it to have a dedicated IP Address ?

I didn't even realize until after I had signed up with my host that it didn't include a dedicated IP. Without knowing much about it, I'm guessing a dedicated IP is pretty important to the search engines.

Dedicated IP is not important at all in your case if you do not wan't to host everything in your own server.

A Dedicated IP is important if you have the server and your hosting your own website or anything. The people that are hosting your website they would have this covered.

A Dedicated IP Is a static ip address so that it dosen't change like you get internet from an ISP well when you turn off your computer and no computer in your house uses the internet the ISP disconnect you to allow others use that line, until you turn on your computer and your computer is trying to connect with the internet the ISP computers would then connect you back in a line now that line may be different so the outside Ip address changes becuse the ISP assignes you a different ip address depending on how many times you turn off your computer or disconnect your computers from the internet.

that IP address is important becuse that's what is used to know where your server is now if it changes your traffic would go down becuse your users would be woundering why they can't connect.

so a Dedicated IP is mainly an IP address that you own and will not change.

you can still get away with a changing ip address but it requires you to eveytime it changes you will have to change the configs of your server and the DNS server well you have to update your domain name record that is hosted by some servive provider.

SO in your case you don't need to know about the Dedicated IP Until you plan to buy your own server and start hosting your own website and any other things you plan to host on your own.
