Well i have to say i am not really suprised at you not getting much traffic as i am really trying hard to find out what it is all about, when i got passed the 1st page which i am thinking is it a temp page if its the real front page that is disastor No1 and then when i get to the Forum the only good thing i can say is that you are running it on the SMF platform which is a good and reliable one,but i just could not work out what it is all about and as they say if it does not grab you in the 1st 20 seconds they hit the exit button and that is what will happen with your current setup the graphics on the forum are terrible in my eyes but i could be wrong and the size of the text in the topic/post counts are not a good choice size wise.
I am sorry to be so brutal but i only write what i see and if it was me i would go back to basics again and start from scratch.Good luck with it.

Mega B. I actually appreciate the brutal honesty. Until now, I have just discussed with my friends. Generally they are horrible critics.
I did some basic redesign and 301 redirected my main landing page to my forums. Also I tried to make it a little more clear what the purpose of the site was. I am going to post this in the evaluate my page forum do get a little more sense of what people think of the design now.
Thanks for your honesty. It really helps!
Sam

Ty Torelli here -
One very successful way to promote your site without "spending" money is to sign up with an affiliate company. They have people that will push your site and get your those quality leads and sales!!
A good friend of mine, Mike Filsaime has a new affiliate program out. Here is the link if you want to check it out.

hello Sam Diener, first of all i want to know that is it ur site is about job consulting & i think u have made ur site in wordpress anyways in order to get traffic you should go for SEO in which first try to on page optimization , try to update its content always & decide ur keywords & go for link popularity. & then offpage. all the best

In my professional opinion, I recommend redesigning the site with a basic, clean design. I couldn't really tell what the page is about by visiting the first page, which I should be able to. Also you should add a "description" and Keywords. This may help you get more traffic. And perhaps add backlinks. I helped a company run a PPC campaign which increased their traffic a lot.

Learn and study search engine optimaztaion startegies, study keyword s and even more powerful keyword phrases.Lean why websites get ranked. And combine social backlink networking with press-release..............if you do all this, then take a look 3 to 6 months down the road. You're jumping the gun at 2 weeks.
I have ranked websites in 2 days on google. But I am...a professional withj over 100 top ranked websites in Music, real estate sites,Attorney sites, office rental sites and ebooks on how to make money online. The list goes on and on.
You really need a solid online business and marketing plan. I looked at your site, it looks like a blog and it could be great, but you have a lot more planning ahead of you.
If you want to know what I think......I compare yoursite to a beginner guitar player....next to a the words best guitarist.....theres a huge difference. I am not trying to cut you down......just trying to help you realize there's much more to do.
Do a lot of research and give people reasons why they should hang out at your website.
You want people to come back..over and over again. Make you site the best of the best. Or at least try. Learn everything you can about html codes and how to write using keywords. Hope this helps.
If you look at my new site....it's underconstruction, and I haven't tried to rank it yet. It's under my siginature....every page is going to be re-done, it's full of idea's and thoughts and it looks great already, but as big as it is.
There's plenty of work on this new site for me.
Some people would think my site is finished...it's not.
It will be re-keyworded and smoothed out to read better.
I still havn't done much social backlinking on the site.
But my main concern will be ranking it on google in a month form now.
As I said be realistic set goals, create a marketing plan.
And....know every trick in the book.
Think about this, there's some very smart people out there ranking website, who use to work for microsoft,ebay,M.I.T. and computer college professors, the top in internet and computer design. Anyone of these guys can best your site anytime they want.......your only chance is to learn 1 or 2 categories and be the best you can be...and LEARN...Study and then learn some more....then learn how to create better ways to market.

First of all you say you have "been trying" to get it going for a weeks but it looks likes its working. Not very appealing but working.
Are you seeking advice in general or on a certain part of the site?
One piece of advice is to get a better looking theme. The one you have is not very appealing since it looks like it stepped out of ascii art land.
What is the purpose of your site?
Is it to redirect traffic to your other sites?
Maybe its to showcase your personal life?
Let me know and I will give your some suggestions on how to better your website.

It takes months to start getting traffic. Have you done any significant SEO - the job market is fully saturated online and there are some major competitors out there for your forum. you can start by paying people to post in your forum every day and then start some social marketing, i.e facebook, myspace, twitter, youtube, etc. Get some links going with other sites - link building is really important but it takes time. good luck

Back links helps your site or blog generates traffic. In order to do that, participate on the techniques like article and directory submissions, forum posting, blog commenting, social bookmarking, etc.
