I've been working on a site, ImperiaEvents- Convention Visa Support for approximately 3 weeks now, with the majority of the work done this past week. I did a google search for "Convention Visa" (one of the primary keywords on the site), and lo-and-behold - I'm number two. Without quotes, my site is placed third.

Is this typical for a new site? Most of my other ones took a month to get into the first 5 pages, let alone in the top five.

All I've done with regard to SEO is installing the All In One SEO Pack for WordPress, and changing the titles and descriptions of articles and the site in general.

For the SEO guru's out there- any other suggestions to keep the positive trend going?

Congratulations buddy, Wordpress SEO pack has really effective results @ search engine rankings. Now, you should have to be stable on your ranking for your targeted keyword. Build relevant backlinks now.

Bennihan- By 'backlinks', Anca is referring to the SEO strategy of getting other similar web sites to link to your site, and posting links in other related forums, blogs, etc. The Google Searchbot (and others) track these links back to you, and (theoretically) give you a higher ranking in the search indexes.

Thats very uncommon... it's hard to even get your site searched in that amount of time... very impressive

Thanks Roger. I've been able to get decent results using Wordpress on other sites, but I think the SEO pack is what helped the most.

Also- Checked Yahoo. Here's the stats:
Yahoo (In Quotes) - #1
Yahoo (No Quotes) - #2

It doesn't appear that MSN or Yandex have indexed it yet, but I'll work on that some tonight.

If you were able to nail down that keyword, you might want to attack something that has more searches. It will be more competitive, but could be worth the effort.

Heck, maybe you'll even replicate this success.

I'm working on expanding to other keywords, but am happy with the results I've had so far.

To be honest, this is a niche that hasn't been filled by any companies in recent years. There are various "grey" solutions, and companies that focus on other aspects of the business, but none of them give me too much to worry about in terms of competition. Once the word starts getting out to others in parallel lines of work, I'll get some competition. Until then, I'm going to solidify my roots in this business. It never hurts being the trailblazer, as long as you leave "Been here, done that" signs all along the way ;-)

Lol, it's all organic and home-grown. I'm expanding to include a focus on 3-4 other keywords to bring in additional traffic. Hopefully this won't dilute the success of the primary keywords.

Also writing a hub on HubPages.com on the topic. This should help drive some more attention to the site, as HubPage search results are (for some reason) heavily and quickly promoted on Google. This used to be my primary method for quickly getting indexed, but the SEO plugin for Wordpress has already impressed me. Using the two resources together should help even more!
