The basic idea is to create a list of keywords and a list of long tail keyword phrases that you want to be organically ranked in the search engines. Then you keyword stuff these two lists into your website content, alt tags, page titles, and site meta data.

The other component is to use traditional search engine optimization methods such as directory submission and developing backlinks, even through PPC campaigns.

A combination of both methods should give you sufficient traction and if done correctly a nice organic search ranking for the keywords and phrases you selected in the beginning.

Search engines are said to not look too kindly upon sites that contain volumes of keywords - I have been advised to use 10-15, max.

What I do is contain keywords in my tweets on twitter. Also use a keyword wrap tool for coding and copy and paste the exact phrase section. Thats after I do keyword research though.

For sites that are brand new...

Writing pages based on the long tail keywords is my main strategy.

My newest blog post includes a little excel sheet trick to weed out 4-5 word phrases
so you can focus on the most in depth searches only.

SEO is very tedious but it pays off
Keywords are so tricky, what I do is find a bunch of other people in my niche and their company name and check keyword variation to get their traffic...with adwords.

make sure I find the best keywords people are searching for that fits my site - then I make sure that I put those keywords in my meta tag and that I use those words at least 5 times on the page they pertain to.

I also use those keywords as anchor text when I post.
