I was still thinking to use twitter. In fact, I was in understanding that it's no use or waste yor time but going through this thread I found myself totally wrong.
Excellent resources here for me to go through and learn more about twitter and its applications before I start.

Ty Torelli you have given a long tail list for us to use whether to use all or there are few excellent worth using

    Thanks to all
    Ravi

There's also retweet, which isn't an application, but a directory of useful twitter bots.

I've been using a lot of twitterfall lately to track trends I like how it drops the status updates one at a time rather then all at once. I find it easier this way

    follow me actively on TWITTER

Twitter is a great platform, thanks for the list....I will check them out. I have used tweetlater.com for my twitter accounts, but if you are a free member it is a pain to type your tweets and schedule them. I'll check out some of yours....THanks again

    Twitter is best described as...

...a micro blogging platform. You are limited to 140 characters each time you do an update, which initially, may seem a small amount.

However, as you become more experienced, it's just amazing what you can fit into 140 characters. That said, Twitter is much, much more than that. It is like one huge global chat room, but then again, it doesn't have to be. It all depends on how many people you follow on Twitter.
